Use of instagram social network by public libraries in the Brazilian Northeast

Abstract

Social networks are being increasingly incorporated into the daily lives of subjects and institutions. One of the most relevant today is Instagram. There is an understanding that public libraries can and should make use of social networks. In this sense, the problem that guided the research was: how is the presence of public libraries in northeastern Brazil configured on the Instagram social network? The general objective was to analyze the use of the social network Instagram by public libraries in the states of northeastern Brazil. The research is exploratory and has a qualitative approach. 3 profiles of public libraries were maintained on Instagram. The results showed public libraries on Instagram and concluded that the levels of interaction between followers and libraries should be increasingly intensified, allowing to attract the public to or more effective use of the spaces and resources offered to them.
